Cleaning a hot tub filter
Filters should be cleaned regularly to avoid excessive spending on electrical operation, premature wear of pumps and components and to assure crystal clear water. Basic maintenance can increase the longevity of many spa components.
Hot tub filters are usually replaced annually. Some hot tub owners prefer to have two sets of filters in rotation. While one spa filter is soaking in an overnight filter cleaner, the other replacement filter can be used. Once the end caps or filter media starts to show excessive wear, it is time to replace the hot tub filter. Filters are typically rinsed off with a garden hose that uses an attachment. There are new hose attachments available which are made especially for cleaning hot tub filters. Many times the endcaps of existing filters will show the number, otherwise a measurement can be taken of the filter including the measurement of the inner diameter of the center hole.
